We’re looking for a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to join our supportive team at our Canvey Island practice.
You’ll be working alongside a great team of 3 vets, 4 RVNs, SVNs, VCAs and CCAs, all working together to provide excellent patient and client care.
We’re a busy clinic with a varied caseload, offering plenty of opportunities to get involved, develop your skills and build your experience. Whether you’re looking to grow your confidence in practice or take the next step in your veterinary career, we’ll support you to learn, develop and progress.

The role also involves participation in weekend, bank holiday and on-call rotations, supporting our 24-hour hospital in Southend. This gives you the opportunity to gain experience in a different clinical environment while working alongside our wider hospital team.

About you
You’re skilled at providing exceptional client care and are passionate about caring for pets. You’re a team player who wants to make a real difference in a practice that values and supports you.

This role is not suitable for young workers in line with Health and Safety Executive (government) direction due to the expected duties of the role. Therefore, you will be asked to confirm that you are over the age of 18 as part of the application process.
What you’ll be doing
Typically, in this role, you’ll:
- Deliver exceptional care to clients, supporting surgeries and procedures, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards
- Deliver patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting and feeding
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team
