The Role

We are seeking a reliable and multi‑skilled Shift Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate would be confident in both mechanical and electrical disciplines. PLC and inverter experience would also be an advantage. You will need to be self‑sufficient and proactive and work well alone or as part of a team. The role will require you to repair and maintain a variety of extrusion, chocolate coating and bakery equipment. This work includes breakdown repairs, machine servicing and improvement projects. This role is for a permanent night shift on a Continental 3’s & 2’s pattern, averaging 42 hours per week, working between Monday and Sunday (including weekends and Bank Holidays).

Qualifications

  • A recognised electrical/mechanical qualification (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
  • Computer skills (knowledge of CMMS systems and Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
  • IET wiring regulations (18th edition)
  • Previous knowledge and use of an automated maintenance system
  • IPAF licence (3a), although training can be provided if required

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance of factory equipment (both mechanical and electrical) in line with the routine maintenance schedule.
  • Follow and complete the Jobs Log during shift.
  • Maintain and update the MVP (CMMS) system.
  • Perform equipment repairs and deal with breakdowns.
  • Liaise with production teams to minimise downtime caused by engineering work.
  • Install and commission new equipment.
  • Manage assigned tasks effectively.
  • Support and assist external contractors while on site.
  • Complete assigned projects as agreed.
  • Attend all required statutory training.
