About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a 4-bed residential children's home specialising in the care of young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the home, ensuring compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements. You will provide strong leadership, safeguarding oversight, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management of the home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with Ofsted and statutory regulations.
  • Act as the Ofsted Registered Manager, maintaining accountability for the quality of care, safeguarding, and outcomes for children.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the staff team through effective supervision, appraisal, and training.
  • Ensure care plans, placement plans, and risk assessments are tailored to individual needs, promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Maintain a strong safeguarding culture, acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all incidents are managed in line with safeguarding protocols.
  • Oversee budgets, staffing, and resources, ensuring financial efficiency and sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, health professionals, education providers, and Ofsted.
  • Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, striving for 'Good' or 'Outstanding' judgements.
  • Ensure Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 monitoring and reporting processes are robust and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards completion).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a children's residential setting and at least 1 year in a management role.
  • Strong understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of safeguarding, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with EBD, trauma, attachment needs, and complex safeguarding risks.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
