We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Deputy Home Manager to join a 5-bed children's residential service supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a senior leadership role requiring a professional who can act as a true second-in-command to the Registered Manager. A strong, working knowledge of children's home regulations, safeguarding procedures, protocol and reporting is essential. The successful candidate must be someone the Registered Manager can trust to run the home safely, compliantly and consistently in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputising for the Registered Manager and providing confident day‑to‑day operational leadership
  • Maintaining full oversight of compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Ensuring robust safeguarding practice, incident management, escalation and statutory notifications
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality recording and reporting
  • Overseeing care planning, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
  • Leading shifts and providing consistent leadership across the staff team
  • Supporting staff supervision, performance management and professional accountability
  • Promoting a structured, trauma‑informed and child‑centred environment

This role requires strong attention to detail, sound professional judgement and the ability to follow and enforce protocol without compromise.

Requirements

  • Significant experience working in a children's residential setting (EBD/SEMH preferred)
  • Experience supervising or leading staff teams
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, regulations, policy and procedure
  • Strong understanding of reporting, audits, notifications and compliance monitoring
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Leadership and Management
  • Calm, professional and decisive leadership style
