About us:

MEDiSTRAVA, the specialized services team within Inizio Medical, brings together best-in-class expertise from across medical affairs, market access, patient engagement, digital innovation and analytics, real world evidence generation and HEOR, and corporate communications to provide fully integrated strategic support for our biopharma partners from start-up to commercialization and beyond.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a highly strategic and scientifically grounded Medical Strategist to serve as a trusted advisor to clients, internal teams, and external experts across a range of therapeutic areas and engagement initiatives. This role goes beyond scientific accuracy and medical communication execution — the Medical Strategist will interpret evolving treatment landscapes, anticipate future shifts in care paradigms, and connect clinical, commercial, stakeholder, and healthcare system insights into actionable strategic recommendations.

The ideal candidate combines deep medical/scientific expertise with forward-thinking strategic acumen, strong consultancy skills, and the ability to influence decision-making at senior levels. They will be comfortable challenging assumptions, shaping innovative and tailored solutions, and translating complexity into meaningful strategies.

Position summary:

The Medical Strategist will help clients navigate changing internal and external environments and expectations, and achieve their organizational goals, whether this is at a structural, portfolio or individual asset level. The role will involve close collaboration with other MEDiSTRAVA specialties and with teams across Inizio on both new business development opportunities and strategic client accounts. The role will also offer opportunities for engagement with industry-leading bodies to raise the profile of our organisation and build lasting relationships across the industry.

Core duties:

  • Strategic Medical Leadership
    • Serve as the medical and scientific lead across projects and client accounts, building strong consultancy relationships through subject matter expertise, strategic insight, and credibility.
    • Lead high-level scientific and strategic discussions with clients, authors, and external experts, including facilitating kick-off meetings, workshops, advisory boards, and strategic brainstorming sessions.
    • Act as a recognized subject matter expert (SME) internally and externally, delivering thoughtful, pragmatic, and timely solutions to complex challenges.
    • Interpret and synthesize evolving medical landscapes, treatment paradigms, and competitive dynamics to provide strategic guidance beyond the evidence alone.
    • Translate scientific, clinical, pipeline, healthcare system, and stakeholder insights into actionable recommendations that support broader business and engagement objectives.
    • Demonstrate the ability to confidently challenge client assumptions and recommend alternative approaches grounded in deep therapeutic and market understanding.
    • Anticipate future implications of pipeline developments, changing standards of care, stakeholder behaviors, and commercialization realities.
  • Client Partnership & Consultancy
    • Digest and critically evaluate client strategies and briefs to develop best-in-class solutions and strategic recommendations.
    • Partner with clients and external experts to assimilate insights, implement solutions, and support organizational or strategic change initiatives.
    • Build trusted advisor relationships with clients through strategic thinking, therapeutic expertise, and consultative communication.
    • Support clients in understanding the broader implications of medical and scientific developments across direct and peripheral stakeholder groups.
  • Project Leadership & Operational Excellence
    • Independently lead projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
    • Manage a high volume of billable work across multiple client teams and/or broader organizational teams while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
    • Demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking abilities in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
    • Proactively identify risks, anticipate future requirements, and implement solutions to address challenges before escalation.
    • Develop project scopes, validate timelines, contribute to statements of work (SOWs), and monitor project profitability and out-of-scope work to ensure financial recoverability.
    • Apply strong financial acumen to project planning and resource management.
  • Business Development & Industry Engagement
    • Contribute actively to new business initiatives, including proposal development, strategic recommendations, pitch presentations, and budgeting.
    • Build and maintain strong industry relationships and professional networks.
    • Stay informed on emerging trends, competitive intelligence, pipeline developments, and healthcare system changes relevant to client business needs and proactively consider implications and potential recommendations to the internal teams and clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSc, or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in medical strategy, medical affairs, scientific consulting, healthcare communications, or related pharmaceutical/biotech environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate scientific knowledge with commercial, stakeholder, and healthcare system considerations.
  • Strong understanding of treatment landscapes, drug development pipelines, and evolving standards of care across one or more therapeutic areas.
  • Proven consultancy and client-facing experience with confidence facilitating senior-level strategic discussions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong project management and financial management capabilities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without direct authority.
