i2 Group, a Harris Computer company, are seeking a Technical Content Designer to research, produce and manage content enabling our end users to use i2 products easily and effectively. This permanent position will be performed on a remote basis with an ability to come in to the i2 office in Cambridge, UK as business needs require (approx. 2 days per month).
The role involves owning and producing all product related content aimed at end users. The end users range in technical skills from those doing simple tasks to software developers writing plug-in components, so adapting the content to fit the needs of the user is a key requirement. This person will need to work collaboratively with a range of internal stakeholders to understand the products and produce engaging content.
We are looking for someone to transition the existing reference documentation to rich online content which incorporates text, images, animations and videos.
What you will do:
- Produce thoughtful, intuitive and compelling content solutions for a range of product use cases and interactions - from onboarding, in-app education to user guides.
- Produce technical or product content for a range of users with varied levels of technical competency.
- Adapt style and content to the target audience.
- Curate and organize documentation to improve structure, readability, and discoverability with a content management system.
- Maintain SDK documentation.
- Produce online (web) content for:
- Release Notes for each product release – what’s new in this version.
- Technical Notes describing any issues and workarounds.
- API reference documentation – updates to the existing material.
- Task orientated ‘How To’ guides to use the product.
- Create short animations and videos to support the content.
- Get a deep understanding of the product.
- Integrate the content with the product (e.g. links to the online content, in app tour of features).
What we are looking for:
- A graduate in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience in core skills such as technical content writing, UX writing, conversational design or storytelling.
- Someone with a portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills as a Technical Content Designer based on the description in the ‘what you will do’ section above.
- Experience of using and managing content management systems to deliver product guides and reference material.
- Proficiency in designing content that meets the needs of users wherever they are in their product journey (from beginner to expert).
- Producing technical or product content for a range of users with varying technical competency demonstrating the ability to adapt style and content to the target audience.
Experiences that will make your application stand out:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Technical Content Designer, UX Writer or Product Documentation role.
- Working knowledge of i2 products or comparable intelligence analysis software.
- Experience of content management systems. Bonus points for setting one up from scratch.
- Managing multiple stakeholders.
