About the Role
Are you an experienced healthcare security professional ready to take the next step in your leadership career? We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Healthcare Security Manager to support the leadership of our Medirest Security Team. Working closely with the Healthcare Security Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and compassionate environment for patients, visitors, and staff across the hospital site. This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic healthcare environments and is passionate about safety, professionalism, and people development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day‑to‑day management of Healthcare Security Supervisors and Officers
- Act as the senior point of contact in the absence of the Security Manager
- Liaise confidently with clinical teams, clients, police, and external stakeholders
- Assist with incident response, investigations, reporting, and post‑incident reviews
- Support rota management, payroll inputs, appraisals, and compliance processes
- Ensure adherence to NHS standards, CQC requirements, SIA licensing, and relevant legislation
- Support clinical teams with de‑escalation techniques and, where required, patient restraint
- Assist in the oversight of CCTV operations
- Promote a safe, welcoming, and professional security presence across hospital grounds
- Champion continuous improvement, training, and staff development
About You
- Experienced in a healthcare or mental health security environment
- A confident and calm leader, able to deputise effectively in high‑pressure situations
- Passionate about patient, staff, and visitor safety
- Skilled in communication, empathy, and verbal de‑escalation
- Comfortable working with vulnerable individuals and people in distress
- Knowledgeable in NHS security standards, the Mental Health Act, and counter‑terrorism requirements
- Organised, computer literate, and confident with reports and compliance documentation
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to meet the demands of a 24/7 healthcare environment
