Overall Purpose of the Role
An influential and high-profile role delivering financial and commercial support to one of the company’s largest regions. Through effective business partnering, the role will continually improve service levels, cost effectiveness, and add value to commercial activities undertaken. This is a senior role within the Healthcare and Compass One Finance team; it will Finance Business Partner our Business Director looking after the North region of Medirest, supporting 15 contracts worth c£180m in revenue. These contracts typically are PFI contracts and therefore the suitable candidate requires strong commercial acumen and able to apply contractual terms. The role also manages a team of 12, 6 of which are direct reports, therefore previous line management experience is key. This role is perfect for someone looking for the next step in their Compass Finance career, partnering experienced operators, supporting the growth agenda and interacting with clients whilst attending client meetings.
Key Accountabilities
- Business Partnering the Business Director ensuring strong commercial and operational decision making, managing financial risks and opportunities for the region.
- Develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, customers, and subcontractors.
- Work with the wider finance team to continually develop KPIs and ensure that end users are focusing on the right metrics to drive sustainable profitable growth.
- Preparation and review of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Preparation and review of monthly management information including in depth variance analysis and underlying performance reporting.
- Prepare monthly business review pack and present at MD/Head of Finance monthly meeting.
- Balance sheet reviews and compliance with Group Accounting Manual, maintaining a full and up to date understanding of SAP and Nexus.
- Promote working capital improvements through timely, accurate contract billing and active management of debt ledgers.
- Calculate and manage the financial risks and opportunities arising from volumetric and other contract mechanisms.
- Financial oversight for all contract amendments and service pricing, ensuring pricing strategy is applied consistently and the pay mechanism and KPI’s in contracts are reviewed regularly.
- Challenge and appraise investment decisions.
- Promote the use of E15 and Compass Discovery to proactively provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support business unit decision making.
- Line manage and develop a team.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA with 3+ years of post-qualification experience.
- Commercial experience gained in multi and/or large contract management.
- Preparation and review of budgeting and forecasting in a matrix environment.
- Advanced excel and modelling.
- Clear evidence of Business Partnering with non-financial colleagues up to a senior level.
- Be comfortable working with uncertainty and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem solving with an ability to clearly present outcomes and influence stakeholders.
- Results orientated, with ability to take decisions when necessary and the resilience to be challenged.
- A team player but with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Line management experience.
