Prison Based Social Worker - full time permanent (36 hours). Based at HMP Addiewell, West Lothian.

West Lothian Council's Justice Services are looking to recruit a Qualified Social Worker. The advertised post is based within the Prison Based Social Work team in HMP Addiewell; however, the successful candidate may be expected to work across the wider Justice Services to meet the requirements of the service.
HMP Addiewell was opened in December 2008 and is a male maximum security prison run by Sodexo Justice Services. This position offers opportunities for partnership working with Sodexo Justice Services and with other prison and community-based services.
Your responsibilities will include working with statutory prisoners, mainly serving long term sentences of 4 years and over. Duties will include:
- Report writing
- Undertaking various risk assessments
- Attendance and participation in the Integrated Case Management process (ICM)
- Involvement in the MAPPA process
- Undertaking Circular 18 assessments
- Offering the provision of a duty service
- Undertaking pre-release duties
- Participating in the provision of structured work
It is essential that you hold a BA in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification and are registered or eligible for registration with the SSSC. You should also have a good understanding of the challenges of the client group and must be prepared to work with those who have committed violent and sexual offences.
Experience of using LSCMI, RoSH, SARA, SA07 & RM2000 risk assessment tools is desirable. Previous experience of working with this client group, either pre or post qualification, is also desirable.
It is essential that you adhere to Sodexo Justice Services' security policies and procedures. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulates you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
