Job Description

Requirements

You should have a minimum of HNC/SVQ level 3 in Social Care, SVQ 4, or the ability to undertake this within registration timescales.

Responsibilities

You will contribute to creating and maintaining a high-quality care environment where children and young people are assured of safety and security to grow and develop. You will promote their rights to access services and information, as appropriate, and enable effective communication with and for children and young people.

The Individual

You should have experience and understanding of working collaboratively with children, young people, and their families and carers. Experience in care planning, assessments, reviews for young people, residential care, and report writing is required. We seek motivated individuals eager to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in Dundee City Council\'s care, committed to high standards of care.

You will be part of the management team within the young people\'s houses, supervising and supporting care staff. Experience in supervising and managing staff is desirable but not essential. You should have effective teamwork skills, good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to undertake CALM and moving and handling procedures.

The role requires confidence in decision-making, self-reliance, and knowledge of young people\'s needs, including emotional, practical, and social aspects. You must be able to work a three-shift system (early, late, night) and be available to work evenings and up to 31 weekends annually. You should be eligible to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within the specified timescale.

This position is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join or update their PVG Scheme membership before a formal offer of employment is made by Dundee City Council.
