- Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
- Salary: 47,181 - 48,226 (pending pay award) + 6% car allowance

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of major capital projects that make a real difference across the borough.
You will manage a diverse portfolio of complex projects within the Council's capital programme, working closely with the Major Projects Delivery Manager and Head of Property and Development to ensure schemes are delivered in line with Council priorities, funding requirements and statutory obligations. You will support the development of funding bids and take responsibility for ensuring projects achieve value for money and long‑term benefits.
Working within a multidisciplinary Major Projects team, you will lead new build and refurbishment projects from inception to completion, managing consultants and contractors and ensuring high standards of quality, cost control and programme delivery. The Council is committed to your development and will provide professional support, including opportunities to work towards a recognised qualification such as MRICS or MCIOB.
What you'll be getting up to
- Leading the delivery of complex capital projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and relevant RIBA stages
- Working closely with the Major Projects Delivery Manager and Head of Property and Development to maintain programme momentum and resolve issues
- Supporting the development of funding strategies and bids, and managing funding compliance, monitoring and grant returns
- Procuring, appointing and managing consultants and contractors, ensuring strong performance throughout the project lifecycle
- Managing budgets, programmes, contracts and approvals to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act 2022
- Building effective relationships with stakeholders and producing high quality reports, briefings and committee papers
Who we're looking for
- Educated to degree level
- Minimum 3 years relevant construction experience, working towards membership of the RICS or CIOB
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Proven working experience in capital project delivery and contractor management
- Proven experience of construction processes, CDM and H&S legislations
- Experience of managing and directing refurbishment or new build projects
- Public sector experience of contract procurement and operational procedures

This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
