Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Services Officer to play a key role in the operational delivery of Local Environmental Services. This role involves the hands-on management and maintenance of grounds, sports pitches, parks, open spaces, and street cleansing, with participation in the winter maintenance service provision.
As part of Sunderland’s City Plan, we aim to create a city where every neighbourhood is safe, clean, and welcoming. We strive to ensure that all residents can take pride in where they live, with access to decent homes and facilities, while fostering a vibrant, healthy, and dynamic community.
The successful candidate will have experience delivering high-quality environmental services and will be adept at working collaboratively with partners and communities across the city. You will have the ability to implement and improve operational service delivery plans, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to meet key objectives. With a commitment to continuous improvement, service excellence, and value for money, you will also support the development and use of technology to enhance frontline services, all within budget constraints.
The post holder will have responsibility for the health and safety of employees and others, ensuring that safe systems of work are in place and continuously assessing and managing associated risks.
This is a challenging and dynamic role that may require working outside of normal hours to meet operational needs. You will be part of a busy and vibrant team, working closely with both internal and external customers. Excellent communication skills, along with strong numeracy and customer service abilities, are essential.
