Location: Astley Hall, Chorley (requirement to work across Chorley and South Ribble)

Contract: Part Time (22.5 hours per week) / Permanent

Salary: 27,694 - 29,064 pro rata (17,189 - 18,039)

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our Culture and Heritage team as a Duty Manager, supporting the delivery of high-quality visitor experiences across our historic venues. You'll work 3 days per week, Wednesday to Sunday, on a rota.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of Astley Hall, and occasionally Worden Hall and other locations across Chorley and South Ribble.
  • Play a key role in ensuring our sites are safe, welcoming, and engaging for all visitors.
  • Lead shifts and coordinate casual staff and volunteers.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and act as the main point of contact for visitors.
  • Oversee building operations, including opening/closing and health & safety.
  • Support the retail and visitor information offer.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through visitor feedback.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working in customer-facing roles.
  • Ability to confidently coordinate people and activities during busy periods.
  • Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused.
  • Interest in culture, heritage, and local history.
  • Can work flexibly across sites and hours.

Other Requirements

This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
