Location: Yarm, TS15 9EJ

Salary up to Β£45,000 Per annum

40 hours per week

Shift pattern: Monday-Friday (with some requirements to work evening and weekends for events)

Sodexo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Catering and Hospitality Manager to lead the catering team at Yarm School and Yarm Preparatory School. You will act as the primary representative for Sodexo and Yarm School, which is a leading independent school for pupils aged 3 - 18, located in the beautiful town of Yarm in the North East of England.

Your role will be to manage this prestigious catering operation and lead effectively all catering team members, ensuring that all services including pupil and staff feeding, retail outlets, and hospitality both internal and external are delivered with both qualitative and quantitative results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational management of Sodexo catering services, ensuring the clients receive services of the highest quality.
  • Be visible and approachable during service for pupils and staff.
  • Hospitality internally and externally, some of which will occur during school closure periods, weekends, and evenings.
  • Foster long-term profitable relationships, working with the client and catering team to deliver operational excellence across the estate.
  • Provide direction and expertise to the operating area for catering and hospitality, both internally and externally, by promoting Sodexo strategies and best business practices to uphold the company mission and values.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performing team to achieve their objectives.
  • Support the Account Manager and the client(s) in developing the business strategy in line with current and emerging client needs, including driving innovation and financial targets.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all employees and other stakeholders is at the heart of everything we do and is managed in accordance with Sodexo policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure all agreed strategies and objectives are achieved to deliver a best-in-class service.
  • Compile and complete accurate monthly invoicing and financial reporting, ensuring any client reports are completed and sent within the agreed timeframes and as per contract.
  • Compile annual budgets, present them to the client within an agreed timeframe, and monitor and review them with the client on a monthly basis.
  • Work collaboratively with the School Events Co-ordinator to deliver hospitality excellence for school events and build a reputable portfolio for the external community to utilise the skilled craft team to commercialise the assets.
  • Work with the School Events Co-ordinator to provide top-class service and manage the PAA staff to deliver service excellence in the Princess Alexandra Auditorium.
  • Support the Chef Manager at the Preparatory School to deliver a healthy and nutritious offer, providing innovation and excitement, along with compliance including allergen management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience required within a similar role, including people management and leadership.
  • A proven track record of success in a similar role overseeing the delivery of school catering, hospitality, and event planning and management.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire team members at all levels.
  • Proven experience in developing relationships.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Experience in leading company initiatives and change management processes.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with excellent client relationship management.
  • Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines, both prescribed and self-imposed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
  • Competence and ability to use a range of IT and technical applications and systems, e.g., MS Office, Electronic Employee Management System.
  • Food Safety/ NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
