We are expanding our team of Cover Supervisors at Medina College. As part of our valued team of Cover Supervisors, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher, under the guidance of senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision. This includes implementing work programmes, managing pupil behaviour and assisting pupils in relevant activities in line with our policies and procedures.

About Us - Medina College is located over two sites: our 11-16 site on the outskirts of Newport, and the post 16 site, The Island VI Form, in the town centre. This role will be based at our 11-16 site. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task and lesson objectives are followed.
  • Create and maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment with effective behaviour management.
  • Support students’ understanding of set work and respond to questions as required.
  • Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons and ensure rooms are left tidy and organised.
  • Monitor, collect and provide feedback on student work, including marking where appropriate.
  • Record attendance and report on student behaviour and any issues in line with school procedures.
  • Support inclusion by being aware of individual student needs and promoting a positive classroom environment.
  • Assist with wider school duties such as exam invigilation, administrative tasks and student supervision as required.
