Occupational Health Technician – Sheffield
Full‑time permanent, 37.5 hours per week. Salary £26,325 per annum, overtime up to £33,000. Location: Sheffield.
Summary
Medigold Health seeks a Mobile Occupational Health Technician to deliver health surveillance services across Sheffield. The role involves health assessments, drug/alcohol testing, venepuncture, vaccinations (for trained nurses), equipment management, vehicle logistics, and administrative duties. Regular travel with occasional overnight stays.
Main Objectives
- Deliver a competent and high‑quality mobile and static health surveillance service to all Medigold clients.
- Undertake health promotion activities as required.
- Promote the business of Medigold Occupational Health Consultancy Ltd and act as its representative.
Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct health surveillance and promotion activities.
- Prepare mobile vehicle, equipment, stocks, and supplies.
- Prepare all paperwork, files and associated forms.
- Maintain adequate stocks and supplies; order and distribute as required.
- Check equipment, ensure calibration and PAT testing, maintain logs.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and mobile vehicles to a high standard.
- Complete all required forms, databases, and logs as directed.
- Maintain a record of mileage, petrol usage and expenses.
- Complete surveillance data and triage for escalation to OHP.
- Maintain competence in use of all equipment and testing required.
- Contribute to development of policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Plan routes, liaise with the Health Surveillance Manager regarding logistics.
- Ensure adequate fuel in vehicles at all times.
- Comply with the Medigold Data Protection policy.
- Perform administration duties as required.
- Identify improvements and enhancements to the service.
- Participate in professional development and training.
- Perform drug and alcohol testing.
- Perform venepuncture and process samples according to guidance.
- Administer vaccinations (trained nurses only).
- Undertake office‑based duties when not required to travel.
- Attend in‑house clinical audit days and departmental meetings.
Requirements
- Degrees in Sports Science or related field; full training provided.
- Experience training as an EMT or nursing background considered.
- Full clean driver\’s licence; must drive and park a mobile unit at home.
- General nursing qualification or evidence of OH technician training/experience desirable.
- Flexibility to travel across the UK, including overnight stays.
- Employment subject to DBS check and evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
Additional Information
- Mobile units are 3.5 tons; a special licence is not required.
- Drivers receive familiarisation training and must undergo a drivers medical.
- Preference given to experienced OHTs at salary £26,325 per annum (overtime up to £33,000).
- Inexperienced candidates with transferable skills (Sports Science, EMT, nursing) are encouraged to apply.
- Full training provided to all candidates.
- Overnight stays will be required; hotel and meal allowances paid by company.
- Work starts and finishes vary: early, usual, late, and some shift work 11pm‑6am paid at higher rate.
- Core hours 37.5 per week; overtime usually travel time, paid at higher rate.
