Consultant - Stroke

Role Summary

We are seeking a competent, UK-experienced Stroke Consultant to join the stroke service in a prestigious hospital in Northern Ireland. The post requires demonstrable hands-on experience in acute stroke lysis and proven clinical competence managing acute stroke pathways within the NHS.

Key Requirements

Essential: GMC London registration.

Essential: CV must clearly state detailed, hands-on experience in Stroke Lysis.

Experience: Minimum 1-year post-CCT consultant experience in Stroke.

UK Experience: At least 6 months working at Stroke Consultant level in the UK.

Clinical Background: Minimum 4 years’ experience in General Medicine including acute medical take with stroke exposure.

Qualification: Membership of the Royal College of Physicians UK or Ireland or an equivalent qualification/training recognised within the NHS.

NHS Competence: Evidence of training and practical experience in thrombolysis pathways, acute stroke assessment, and post-lysis care.

Desirable Skills

Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary stroke teams.

Familiarity with stroke imaging pathways, thrombolysis protocols, and local audit/quality improvement.

Good communication skills and commitment to clinical governance and teaching.

Location: Causeway Hospital, Coleraine, Northern Ireland.

Contract Type: On going locum contract

Start Date: ASAP

UMB: £156 per hour

PAYE: £139.20 per hour
