We are seeking experienced Consultant Histopathologists to register their interest in supporting a large NHS Cellular Pathology service in the East Midlands through a proposed on-site insourcing arrangement. The Trust is experiencing reporting capacity pressures and is exploring options to increase reporting capacity, particularly within Urology pathology. At this stage, we are assessing consultant availability and capability ahead of a prospective service. Any engagement would be subject to service confirmation and formal approval. This would be an output-based insourcing opportunity rather than a traditional locum position.

Key Responsibilities
- Reporting of histopathology specimens on-site using glass slides
- Urology reporting, including prostate biopsy templates and radical prostatectomy specimens
- Working within established Trust governance and quality frameworks
- Maintaining agreed turnaround times and reporting standards
Indicative Activity
- Approximately 120 prostate biopsy templates per month
- Approximately 20 radical prostatectomy cases per month
Essential Requirements
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Histopathology
- Current or recent substantive NHS Consultant Histopathologist appointment
- Significant experience reporting urology specimens independently
- Strong understanding of NHS governance and quality requirements
- Participation in relevant Histopathology External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and appraisal/revalidation compliance
Desirable
- Previous insourcing experience
- Capacity to undertake regular additional reporting sessions
- Experience supporting backlog reduction initiatives
