Medics Pro are seeking experienced Ophthalmic Scrub Nurse's - Band 5+ with recent NHS experience, who are looking for flexible extra shifts or full-time agency work within the Essex Area.

This opportunity is to cover Monday - Friday, day shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing specialized peri-operative support during eye surgeries, ensuring patient safety, aseptic technique, and efficient theatre operations.

Duties: set up operating theatres for eye surgeries, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready.

Provide competent scrub support during procedures, assisting surgeons and anticipating potential issues to maintain smooth surgical flow After surgery, helping clean and prepare the theatre for subsequent cases, maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control

  • Preoperative

Duties: help prepare the operating room by ensuring instruments and equipment are sterilized and arranged according to the surgeon's needs.

They assist in patient positioning to provide optimal access to the surgical site.

  • Postoperative Care: After surgery, SFAs apply dressings, assist in transferring patients to recovery areas, and monitor for immediate postoperative complications
  • Team

Coordination: communicate the surgeon's needs to the rest of the operating room team, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technologists, ensuring smooth workflow and efficiency.
