Job Title: Child Protection Social Worker
Location: Blandford
Contract Type: Temporary, FT. (Possibility of temp to perm)
Join us as a Child Protection Social Worker and be part of our new way of working with families within the child protection space.
Here in Dorset, we’ve been recognised for our work with children, young people, and families, by being selected as one of only three initial Families First for Children’s Pathfinder sites nationally. This opportunity comes with government grant funding and support, reflecting the scale of the work.
Our teams are testing and influencing this innovative direction for social care, ensuring families co-design plans with our Quality Assurance Reviewing Officer (QARO) colleagues, supporting independently, discussing processes, and maintaining contact with families.
As a Child Protection Social Worker, you’ll chair updated child protection conferences focused on collaboration and keeping the family at the center. You’ll have access to multi-agency Safeguarding Together teams and our in-house multidisciplinary team in each locality.
We emphasize professional development with training in motivational interviewing, restorative practice, and strength-based approaches. Regular supervision and participation in Partnership Workforce Events encourage creative thinking and innovation.
Your wellbeing is a priority, with access to talking therapies, Mental Health Champions, and workshops by our Employee Wellbeing Team.
- About you
You will have a Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and be able to fulfill the travel requirements. You should have completed your ASYE and have at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience in Children’s Services.
You must demonstrate high-level knowledge of statutory social care services and experience with complex court proceedings. Only candidates with the right to work in the UK are eligible to apply.
- Have a degree in social work/Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- At least 3 years’ experience in similar roles within English Local Authorities
- Ability to fulfill travel requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Pass enhanced DBS checks
