Job Description
Job Purpose
- The role overall is day to day operations of the children\’s home. This will include centre leadership, staff support and decision making within the boundaries of delegated authority and within the policies and procedures of homes for Children and to outline a balanced programme in co-operation with all staff to take account of the social, care and education needs of all young people. You will provide leadership and oversight to the three disciplines at the home.
Information and Communications Technology
- Accurately and consistently applies company policies and guidelines to the use of electronic records management, physical records management.
- Understands and uses basic technology as a tool in staff communication (e.g., email, scheduling, etc.) and can develop others in its use.
- Accurately creates, generates and maintains diverse reports & documents utilising databases, spreadsheets and communications.
- Collates, analyses and reports on data collected to meet business requirements.
- Proficient in using appropriate personal computer software and business communication systems.
Communication
- Understands the importance of keeping the team up to date, takes time to explain things.
- Works in an open manner, shares information with others to get the job done.
- Encourages staff to discuss ideas and concerns and provides feedback to the relevant parties.
- Consistently delivers accurate, clear, and concise messages orally and/or in writing to effectively inform an audience.
- Consistently communicates in a style that positively promotes Helpful Investments values and mission.
Business Alignment
- Establishes and maintains external relationships and partnerships such as local authorities, Ofsted, Social Services etc
- Understands how sector initiatives impact on the business, e.g. Government initiatives, funding, Ofsted’s inspection framework etc.
- Places significant emphasis on both the future and shorter-term implications when decision making.

- Creates a shared vision of organisational and operational excellence; connects department goals and individual contributions through promoting Helpful Investments values.
- Delegates routine elements of more complex tasks and encourages others to do the same, confirms when others have understood and learnt from delegated tasks.

- Will do whatever it takes to ensure systems of work that are safe, environmentally aware and socially responsible, and monitors them regularly.
- Authorises COSHH and risk assessments.
- Informs others of risks and make them aware of the actions needed to contain, reduce or manage risks
Data Protection/ Confidentiality
- Ensures compliance with legal ethical aspects of data holding and dissemination in own area
- Maintains own awareness of changes in legislation, best practice, policy and guidance with regard to Data Protection and confidentiality within Helpful Investments.
- Maintain individuals’ rights to confidentiality by ensuring compliance with national and local policy and guidance.
Flexibility & Adaptability
- Solicits ideas and responds positively to those of staff, working groups and forums dedicated in continual development of policies, processes and procedures within Helpful Investments.
- Champions change in a residential, education or support function by encouraging and inspiring others to buy into new initiatives.
