We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Nursing Home Manager to lead and manage a well-established nursing home in Birkenhead, Wirral. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for clinical governance, compliance, staff management, and business performance. The successful candidate will ensure the home operates to the highest standards of care while maintaining strong regulatory compliance and a positive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with CQC, legislation, regulations, and registration requirements
- Maintain and improve CQC ratings through strong leadership and governance
- Oversee health & safety, COSHH, fire safety, and equal opportunities compliance
- Lead and manage all departments including nursing, care, catering, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance
- Implement and monitor the Quality Management System, audits, and self-assessments
- Manage complaints effectively from residents, relatives, and staff
- Ensure effective communication across all levels of the home
- Maintain the fabric, equipment, and installations of the home to high standards
- Manage staffing levels, skill mix, rotas, recruitment, and performance
- Apply disciplinary and HR procedures fairly and consistently in line with HR guidance
- Deliver the organisation’s annual business plan and meet operational targets
- Liaise with external bodies including CQC and local authorities
- Ensure robust information governance practices are followed
Personal & Professional Responsibilities
- Hold a nursing qualification (RGN or equivalent)
- Be registered with the relevant professional body and work within the Code of Conduct
- Proven experience as a Nursing Home Manager
- Hold or be willing to work towards a relevant management qualification
- Attend mandatory training and professional development as required
- Demonstrate strong leadership, organisation, and people-management skills

- Nursing qualification (RGN or similar)
- Previous experience managing a nursing home
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Right to Work in the UK
- Share code required if not a British passport holder
- Strong knowledge of CQC standards and care regulations
