Overview

Main purpose of the job: To deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care according to the Scope of Practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
  • Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
  • Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
  • Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
  • Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged

Required Education

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Degree / Diploma in General Nursing

DESIRED EDUCATION: Midwifery; Post graduate certificate/ diploma in relevant specialty area

Required Experience

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year post graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit

  • Basic life support trained (ACLS; ATLS; PALS training for specialised wards)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Nursing processes and procedures
  • Nursing record keeping

  • Pharmacology
  • Relevant nursing legislation
  • Risk identification

All applicants will be considered, with preference given in accordance with the Employment Equity Plan of Mediclinic Southern Africa, as well as internal applicants/employees that meet the minimum requirements.

It is a condition of employment that all Mediclinic employees based in Southern Africa are vaccinated against any dangerous or life threatening transmissible diseases. Currently applications for the advertised position will only be considered from applicants who have been at least partially vaccinated against Covid-19 by the time of their appointment with the understanding that full vaccination will be achieved within two (2) months after appointment date.
