Communications Specialist, Business Technology Change

Full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract (internal move, loan or temporary promotion) based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU. Hybrid work: minimum 8 days per month onsite, up to 12 days depending on role.

About the Agency

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) improves the health of millions by regulating medicines and medical devices. The Communications and Engagement team delivers high‑profile communications to support the Agency’s strategy.

Role Overview

Lead delivery and implementation of communications strategies for the Business Technology Change programme, aligning with MHRA’s brand and internal priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver integrated communications plans for the Business Technology Change programme and organisational objectives.
  • Provide expert communications advice to senior leaders, programme teams and cross‑government stakeholders.
  • Plan and manage the delivery of communications activity across media, digital and stakeholder channels.
  • Create high‑quality content, including messaging, engagement and briefing materials.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Communicating and Influencing – Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and challenge staff and external contacts at all levels.
  • Managing a Quality Service – Experience maintaining multiple projects/programmes while mitigating risks and identifying solutions.
  • Track record of developing communications and engagement strategies and delivering complex projects/programmes/campaigns.
  • Experience engaging and mapping key stakeholders; positive customer service, understanding complex customer needs.

  • Behaviour Criteria
    • Communicating and Influencing – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
    • Managing a Quality Service – Experience maintaining multiple projects/programmes with risk mitigation.
  • Experience Criteria
    • Developing communications and engagement strategies and delivering complex projects/programmes.
    • Engaging and mapping key stakeholders to communicate key messages.
    • Working well under pressure in a complex business and political environment.
  • Technical Criteria
    • Relevant qualification and membership of CIM, CIPR or similar professional body (desirable).
    • Knowledge of the health or regulatory landscape (desirable).
