Job Overview
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is seeking an Accounts Receivable Supervisor to join the Finance and Corporate Business Planning Function within the Corporate group. This full‑time, permanent position will be based at 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU. The role can only be worked in the UK.
Working Arrangements
We are implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working. A minimum of 8 days per month will be required on site to enable collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders required to deliver MHRA business. Depending on the nature of the role attendance on site can flex up to 12 days per month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Finance Division ensures public funds are spent wisely and that the Executive and the Board make informed decisions about costs and investments to bring public value outcomes. The Finance Division is essential to ensure that the agency discharges its statutory responsibilities and carries out business operations while delivering optimal value from the funding we receive.
Finance Operations – Accounts Receivable
The Accounts Receivable (AR) team is part of the Finance Operations function and is responsible for billing and collections of payments due to the Agency. The AR function is a transactional team that includes Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Transaction Procurement and Systems Support.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to supervise day‑to‑day operations of the Accounts Receivable (AR) department including cash applications, collections, cash and general ledger (GL) account reconciliations and reporting. The role will set, track, manage and report on the AR team key performance metrics, provide backup support to Accounts Receivable Manager and participate in developing and testing system maintenance and enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise daily activities of AR staff, including setting, reviewing and monitoring AR team targets and analysing team workloads.
- Supervise BAU activities and workload allocation within AR team to ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure staff is trained and works with leads or department trainer to develop written training materials and desk level procedures and that documentation is current.
- Improve and enhance cash application, collections, account reconciliations and month‑end close processes to achieve cost savings opportunities.
- Develop, recommend and implement process and working practice improvements in the Accounts Receivable function with a focus on centralisation, standardisation and automation.
- Assist with external/internal audit requests by compiling and validating information.
- Prepare and review daily and monthly production reports and ad‑hoc management reports.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties and special projects assigned by management and participate in system maintenance and upgrade testing.
Qualifications
- Substantial experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivables Ledger Management with a demonstrable track record of managing and improving performance through technical know‑how and analytical skills.
- Strong debt collections expertise with demonstrable experience of improving processes and systems.
- Substantial knowledge of Oracle Fusion or similar accounting systems including experience of supporting design and maintenance business processes and control systems to improve and ensure the integrity, quality and timeliness of information and hands on experience of generating reports.
- Experience of leading business change and influencing external stakeholders across an organisation to secure benefits.
- Excellent understanding of the Order to Cash (O2C) end to end processes and the associated financial controls.
- Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and people working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
Benefits and Pay
- Salary: £37,456 per annumli>
- Pension: £10,851 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
- Annual leave: 25 days on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro‑rata for part‑time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays.
- Privilege leave: 1 day.
- Hours of work: 37 hours (net) per week for full‑time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro‑rata for part‑time staff.
