About the Role
We are recruiting experienced Mental Health Nurses and Non-Medical Prescribers, ideally already prison cleared, to join healthcare teams across several prison establishments. These roles offer the chance to deliver mental health and primary care within a secure environment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the wellbeing of the prison population. Full induction, security clearance support and ongoing training provided for those not yet cleared.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mental health nursing care/clinics within a secure prison healthcare setting
- Undertake reception health screening, triage and ongoing mental health assessments
- (NMP roles) Independent prescribing and medicines management within scope of practice
- Manage mental health presentations, substance misuse and dual diagnosis needs
- Work collaboratively with prison staff, GPs, psychiatry and the wider MDT
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC and information governance standards

- Respond to clinical emergencies and manage risk within a custodial environment
Essential Requirements
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration
- For NMP roles: V300 Independent Prescriber qualification
- Experience in mental health, substance misuse or offender health nursing
- Enhanced DBS clearance; existing prison security clearance desirable
- Strong communication, resilience and risk-management skills
