We are recruiting experienced Mental Health Nurses and Non-Medical Prescribers, ideally already prison cleared, to join healthcare teams across several prison establishments. These roles offer the chance to deliver mental health and primary care within a secure environment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the wellbeing of the prison population. Full induction, security clearance support and ongoing training provided for those not yet cleared.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mental health nursing care/clinics within a secure prison healthcare setting
  • Undertake reception health screening, triage and ongoing mental health assessments (NMP roles)
  • Independent prescribing and medicines management within scope of practice
  • Manage mental health presentations, substance misuse and dual diagnosis needs
  • Work collaboratively with prison staff, GPs, psychiatry and the wider MDT
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC and information governance standards
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and manage risk within a custodial environment

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration
  • For NMP roles: V300 Independent Prescriber qualification
  • Experience in mental health, substance misuse or offender health nursing
  • Enhanced DBS clearance; existing prison security clearance desirable
  • Strong communication, resilience and risk-management skills
  • Right to work in the UK
