Would you like to guide a charity research funder with a century-long legacy into its next transformative chapter? As an independent charity and the fundraising and research partner of the Medical Research Council, we have the freedom to fund any health condition, anywhere in the world. We currently support £34m in ongoing research and will invest £35m more by 2029, focusing on the conditions that have too often been overlooked, and the researchers who will shape the breakthroughs of tomorrow.
Our current CEO is stepping down after building a strong and stable foundation, and we are looking for the right person to carry that work forward. As CEO, you will lead us through the next stage of our growth, deepening our research impact, broadening our partnerships, and developing the strategy that will take us to 2034 and beyond.
We are looking for a leader to be the public voice of the Foundation: championing the value of medical research, cultivating relationships with donors and funders, and ensuring that our grants reach the scientists best placed to make a difference. You will work alongside a talented executive team, a supportive Board of Trustees, and a global community of researchers whose work we are genuinely proud to fund.
You will have a genuine understanding of medical research and a deep belief in what it can achieve. You will bring senior leadership experience from a research funding organisation or a closely related environment, along with a track record of leading organisations through growth and change.
We are looking for a natural relationship-builder – able to inspire donors, engage researchers and work constructively with partners across the sector. You will have the financial and governance experience to lead a complex charity with confidence, and you will be motivated, above all, by the chance to give real hope to people whose health conditions have been neglected for too long.
