Overall purpose: This project will investigate the use of lipid nanoparticles to target prostate cancer cells for delivery of tumour suppressor mRNAs in vivo.

Main responsibilities:

  • To plan and carry out research
  • To write and publish the results
  • To form good working relationships with other members of the group
  • To assist others and co-supervise students when required
  • To contribute to the development and maintenance of the group’s experimental or computational infrastructure as appropriate

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications / Training required:

  • Essential: PhD (or equivalent) in a related area of research

Previous work experience required:

  • Essential: Strong background in synthetic chemistry and nanomedicines; Experience of synthesising lipid nanoparticles and nanogels; Experience of large-scale mRNA synthesis and purification; Experience of working with prostate cancer cells; Experience of proteomic and transcriptomic data analysis; Experience of in vivo mouse xenograft studies (current holder of PIL essential)
  • Desirable: Expertise in mitochondrial function and AMPK signalling, and in particular their role in prostate cancer would be a substantial advantage

Knowledge and experience:

  • Essential: Ability to develop and apply new concepts; Expertise in synthesis of lipid nanoparticles; Expertise with prostate cancer xenograft studies in mice; Experience of histological methods, particularly tumour xenografts; Creative approach to problem solving; Good written communication skills in English
