As a Medicolegal Consultant, you will provide trusted medicolegal advice to members, supporting them through a wide range of professional challenges including complaints, regulatory investigations, disciplinary proceedings, inquests and ethical dilemmas. You will play a key role in delivering fair outcomes for members while ensuring the highest technical and professional standards.
Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will combine your clinical knowledge with sound judgement, stakeholder management skills and a member-focused approach. You will also help shape the future of our services through education, coaching, thought leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide expert medicolegal advice to members on professional, ethical and legal matters.
- Manage a varied caseload of complaints, disciplinary matters, regulatory investigations, reports and inquests, including complex and/or high-profile cases.
- Deliver exceptional member service through clear, accurate and empathetic communication across multiple channels.
- Act as a technical expert and escalation point, supporting colleagues and sharing specialist knowledge across the business.
- Work closely with legal, claims and operational teams to achieve positive outcomes for members and the wider membership.
- Contribute to educational initiatives, including webinars, conferences, publications and member-facing content.
- Support continuous improvement, change programmes and operational excellence by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory requirements, risk frameworks and professional standards while maintaining accurate case records and audit trails.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a recognised medical degree and is fully registered and licensed to practise with the relevant professional regulator.
- Has recent or relevant clinical experience and a strong understanding of the challenges facing healthcare professionals.
- Possesses sound knowledge of the legal, ethical and professional principles that apply to clinical practice.
- Demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and confidently.
- Builds strong relationships with members, colleagues and external stakeholders, influencing effectively at all levels.
- Has experience coaching, mentoring or developing others and enjoys sharing expertise within a team environment.
- Is comfortable presenting at conferences, delivering webinars and contributing written content for professional audiences.
- Brings excellent judgement, resilience and commercial awareness, with the ability to balance member needs, risk considerations and organisational objectives.
