Location
We work across England, with offices currently in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and Southport.
We offer hybrid and flexible working practices, balancing home work with socialising in modern offices.
Hours
35 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Lead Vetting cover is required on bank holidays, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
You may also be required to provide cover during the remaining bank holidays and throughout the Christmas closure period, depending on business needs.
Medical Law Services is seeking a dedicated Nurse Analyst to join our RA1 team.
Purpose of Role
To assess the merits of new leads (Lead Vetting) received into the business, liaising with the onboarding team if further information is required from the client, to complete an RA1 risk assessment, advise on prospects and set the initial case plan, including records required and defendants.
Provide evidence‑based research and apply clinical knowledge to support reasoning for proceeding with or rejecting the claim.
Support the Pagination team if required.

- Main Responsibilities
- Complete risk assessment of initial leads into the business – lead vetting.
- Review claimant’s version of events and provide a clinical opinion on the merits of the case.
- Recognise cases that fall into legal exception or group action cases and forward to the relevant legal team.
- Request further information or documentation relevant to the case to enable the vetting process to be completed.
- Undertake necessary research to understand medico‑legal elements, including relevant professional guidelines.
- Ensure good understanding of GDPR to identify issues or conflicts within the lead.
- Discuss audit feedback with the RA1 Manager for continuous improvement.
- Support pagination team: review medical records and other documentation; sort and categorise medical records; prepare Opinion of Merit (OOM) and chronology.
- Prepare light/selective and updated paginations in paperless format, utilising suitable IT programmes and evolving AI tools.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of post‑qualification nursing experience in NHS practice or clinical setting.
- 1–2 years of medicolegal, pagination, or lead vetting experience.
- Basic understanding of medical records.
- High accuracy in work preparation.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new working environments.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills with positivity, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work within a team both remotely and in person.
- Highly motivated, organised, and proactive.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Working knowledge of audits and interpreting findings to improve practice.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other software tools such as Adobe.
