Location: We work across England, with offices currently in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Southport. We believe we offer our colleagues the best hybrid and flexible working practices, balancing working from home with time collaborating and socialising with colleagues in our modern offices.
Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm (Hybrid - 2 days in the office a week, though negotiable if needed)
Medical Law Service have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing MLS Nurse Team. Are you an experienced nurse looking to apply your clinical expertise in a dynamic and rewarding legal setting? Medical Law Services is seeking a dedicated Nurse Analyst to join our specialist team.
Purpose Of Role
To provide an assessment on the merits of a potential case depending on the initial information provided, advising on which medical records and additional documents are required to further determine the case prospects. To complete a detailed review of the records, pagination and chronology and give opinion on the merits of the case if requested as part of the product. This is a hybrid working position, giving you the flexibility to balance remote work with time in our collaborative, friendly office environment. Main Responsibilities
- Reviewing medical records and any other documentation relevant to the case
- Sorting and categorisation of medical records
- Preparation of Opinion of Merit (OOM) and chronology to assist the legal team with furthering their investigations and assessment of prospects with a good knowledge surrounding breach of duty and causation
- Preparing both light/selective focussed, date ranged, full and updated paginations in paperless format, utilising suitable IT programmes, including working with evolving AI tools
- Undertaking necessary research in order to understand the medico-legal elements of the case, including any relevant professional guidelines
- Good understanding of GDPR to enable identification of such issues within the medical records
- Experience led progression towards competing Risk Assessment 1s.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in NHS practice / clinical setting as a registered nurse
- Basic understanding of medical records
- Be able to prepare work to a high level of accuracy
- Ability to learn and adapt to new working environments
- Be able to demonstrate analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to disseminate information with positivity, attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work within a team both remotely and in person
- Be highly motivated, organised, and proactive
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards
- Working knowledge of Audits and interpreting the findings to improve/maintain practice
Desirable Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Familiarity of Microsoft and other software tools for example Adobe
