The Resource Planner is responsible for coordinating staffing of imaging equipment and capacity across MIP sites in Sussex to ensure the timely and effective delivery of imaging services. The post holder will plan rotas, balance workloads, track performance, and work with clinical and administrative colleagues to optimise service efficiency and patient care. You will ensure our multiple sites have the right staff, both internal and external, with the right skills in the right place to meet patient demand and always deliver Key Performance Indicators.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly staff rotas for radiographers, sonographers and support teams.
  • Monitor staffing levels, identify shortages, and arrange cover in liaison with team leads and HR.
  • Liaise with approved recruitment agencies to organise and maintain adequate temporary staffing support and secure emergency temporary workforce cover as required.
  • Manage capacity planning and daily service schedules to meet patient demand and contractual obligations.
  • Use RIS/PACS and related systems to track performance, throughout and utilisation.
  • Produce regular operational and performance reports to support management decisions.
  • Liaise with clinical site leads, radiologists and partners to align scheduling with service requirements.
  • Contribute to workflow improvement and capacity expansion projects as services grow.
  • Support the Imaging Systems and IT teams with system data integrity and workflow configuration.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, CQC, health and safety, and data protection regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in workforce or resource planning within healthcare or imaging services environment.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and scheduling software.
  • Clear and confident communication skills; able to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Experience using rostering systems (e.g. Planday, Rotacloud).
  • Understanding of NHS diagnostic service delivery and performance metrics.
  • Background in a radiology or diagnostic imaging environment.

Working Pattern and Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Hybrid working mainly office-based (Crawley or other Sussex centre) and part remote (Potential for 3 in, 2 remote for the right candidate)
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
