Overview of our organisation
Medical Imaging Partnership has been delivering high-quality radiology services for both the NHS and private sector for over a decade. We have multiple sites and centres across the south coast of the UK, all led by qualified and experienced healthcare professionals.

Role Purpose
This role is accountable for performing imaging procedures predominantly in MRI with some X-ray, deferring to Lead Radiographer/Centre Manager when required. This role always operates with a high degree of professionalism at all times to ensure provision of a high quality, responsive and patient focused service.

Role Responsibilities

  • Clinical
    • Undertaking a wide variety of imaging examinations on different makes and models of equipment acting as a Practitioner as defined within IR(ME)R 2017, requiring an assessment of each referral and decision on whether to proceed with the examination as requested, modify or reject it.
    • To determine and deliver the most appropriate imaging procedures assisting with the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of a wide range of patients and conditions.
    • Alongside other Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants, preparing patients for imaging procedures, explains the procedure and ensures that the patient is comfortable and properly positioned.
    • Ensuring all referrals are justified and provide advice on protocols if required.
    • Ensuring patient identification/safety checks are completed prior to imaging examination.
    • Ensuring consistently high-quality images are produced.
    • Administering contrast media in line with PGD guidance, SOPs & protocols.
    • Assessing all images for quality and clinical significance and escalates urgent findings.
    • Ensuring all examinations are completed, post-processed and allocated for reporting at the end of each day.
    • Responsible for own clinical areas with regards to linen change and cleanliness.
    • Supervising junior Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants when required, ensuring they are working in line with IRR2017.
    • Flexible in working practices to ensure that the Imaging services are staffed at all locations.
    • Adapting protocols and procedures for best practice in conjunction with local radiologist and clinician requests.
    • Providing clinical input as required to promote the service to local clinicians.
    • Acts professionally within the standard and framework provided by the HCPC and College of Radiographers 'Code of Professional Conduct'. Maintains active registration with HCPC.
  • Further Responsibilities
    • Maintains the highest standards of both practical work and patient care at all times, including patient privacy and dignity.
    • Provides support and reassurance to patients.
    • Maintains own personal Continual Professional Development and a professional portfolio in line with HCPC & SoR recommendations and requirements.
    • Updates clinical practice, participate in clinical trials as required and keep up to date in latest techniques.
    • Carries out responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, to have knowledge of supporting policies and safety and to undertake the appropriate level of training for your role.
    • To become part of the Radiation Protection Supervisors team within the department, providing reports for the annual radiation meeting and reporting incidents and concerns with the support of the RPA.
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities
    • Has a full understanding of safety issues and the hazards and safety implications of working on 1.5T and 3T scanners.
    • Ensures that all safety guidelines are followed in clinical practice.
    • Carries out regular Quality Assurance Tests on equipment.
    • Be responsible for the safety of patients and other staff.
    • Reports any malfunctions of equipment to a senior person and records relevant information on the RADAR system.
    • To comply with the IR (ME)R 2017 regulations and ionising Radiations Regulations 2017.
    • Ensures all work environments are safe and within guidelines.
    • Maintains own compliance and ensure department staff awareness and compliance with all legislative and company policies and procedures.
    • Maintains high-standards of infection control.
    • Contributes to risk assessments for new and current imaging locations and modalities.

This role is accountable to follow all company policies and adheres to professional standards. We operate a 7 day roster working shift pattern.
