The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Principal Nursing & Quality Lead to provide strategic clinical leadership and professional oversight across our outpatient and diagnostic services. This is a senior role with organisation-wide impact, responsible for ensuring clinical practice, governance, and patient safety standards are aligned with national guidance, CQC requirements, and best practice. The postholder will also act as the organisation’s Resuscitation Lead and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Lead, supporting inspection readiness across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership & Best Practice
    • Provide expert nursing leadership across MIP services
    • Ensure care delivery aligns with evidence-based standards and national guidance
    • Support the development and mobilisation of new services and clinical pathways
    • Act as a senior clinical advisor on patient safety, service design, and care delivery
  • Patient Safety, Quality & Governance
    • Lead clinical quality assurance, audit programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Support service and centre leads in incident management and investigations
    • Ensure incident responses align with PSIRF principles, focusing on learning and system improvement
    • Provide expert oversight of investigation quality, including:
      • Identification of contributory and human factors
      • Development of measurable improvement actions
    • Promote organisation-wide learning from incidents and ensure insights are embedded across services
  • Regulatory & Assurance
    • Maintain robust clinical governance frameworks across all sites
    • Ensure services are inspection-ready at all times
    • Lead on IPC and resuscitation standards, including systems, training, and compliance

About You

  • Registered Nurse with significant senior clinical leadership experience
  • Strong background in quality, governance, and patient safety
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, including CQC standards and PSIRF
  • Proven ability to lead across multi-site services and influence at a senior level
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
