We’re working exclusively with a growing precision manufacturing business in Leeds to appoint a Quality Improvement Engineer. This isn’t a “sit behind a desk” quality role. It’s a hands-on, shopfloor-focused position where you’ll be right at the centre of operations working closely with production, engineering, and customers to improve quality, reduce defects, and strengthen processes. The business operates in a highly regulated environment, with strong links to the medical device sector, so quality really matters here.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Being present on the shopfloor, making sure quality is controlled at source
  • Leading root cause investigations (8D, 5 Whys, DMAIC)
  • Driving continuous improvement across machining processes
  • Using data and statistical tools to improve capability
  • Supporting validation IQ, OQ, PQ activities
  • Strengthening and improving the QMS
  • Supporting audits (internal, external, customer)
  • Working closely with production and engineering to solve problems properly
  • Improving documentation, SOPs, and quality processes
  • Supporting customer issues and improving overall performance

What we’re looking for:

  • Around 3+ years’ experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Strong problem-solving mindset structured and data-driven
  • Good understanding of ISO13485 (or similar regulated environments)
  • Comfortable being hands-on in a manufacturing environment
  • Nice to have CNC machining or precision engineering background
  • CMM / metrology experience
  • Validation experience (IQ, OQ, PQ)

Why this role:

  • Proper ownership and visibility across the business
  • Strong mix of technical + operational + customer exposure
  • Opportunity to make a real impact, not just maintain systems
  • A business that is growing and investing in quality

If you’re someone who likes being close to the product, solving problems properly, and driving improvement rather than just reporting on it, this will suit you.
