Reporting to the Technical Director, this role is responsible for building and maintaining the automation, infrastructure, and secure deployment architecture that underpin Medica’s clinical and operational applications.

The DevOps Engineer will work closely with software engineering, data engineering, and infrastructure teams to design secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments, ensuring consistent and rapid software delivery. This position is central to improving performance, strengthening security, and accelerating delivery as Medica modernises its technology estate, ultimately helping to enhance the services provided to clinicians and improving patient outcomes.

You’ll troubleshoot infrastructure and pipeline issues, embed security and compliance controls, and contribute to incident response and continual improvement. The role also involves creating clear operational documentation, championing DevOps and cloud best practices, supporting cost‑optimisation efforts, and collaborating with the Technical Director to shape Medica’s evolving cloud‑native standards and architecture.

Who we are: Medica is the UK’s leading telemedicine provider, supporting over 50% of NHS trusts with specialist reporting services across the globe. Requirements:

  • Extensive hands‑on cloud experience – Microsoft Azure essential (IaaS/PaaS, networking, IAM, storage, key management, monitoring).
  • Proficiency with IaC (Terraform, Ansible, ARM Templates, Bicep) and scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Strong experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, Serverless platforms, ACA) and image security practices.
  • Observability tooling (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Prometheus/Grafana), log aggregation, alert design.
  • Proven track record implementing DevSecOps controls (SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secrets management).
  • Sound understanding of networking (VNETs/VPCs, routing, DNS, load balancing, private endpoints) and zero‑trust principles.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with change management, audit trails, and secure SDLC.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
