The Role

This role supports one of mediasense's largest and most exciting flagship client accounts. As Client Director, you will hold a senior advisory position, providing strategic leadership, judgement and perspective to help clients navigate the complexities of a fast‐changing media ecosystem. Client Directors play a key leadership role within the Client Solutions team, with responsibility for managing senior client relationships and leading day‐to‐day engagement. They support clients across several key areas:

  • Organization: i.e., advising clients on organizational structure and ways of working
  • Ecosystem: i.e., advising marketers on how to optimize their agency partners and relationships
  • Accountability: i.e., analyzing media investments to track and improve performance and unlock incremental opportunities for improvement

The role itself will involve a range of activities including:

  • Lead day‐to‐day client relationships, ensuring key client stakeholders are engaged with regularly, on both live projects and broader industry topics
  • Build trusted client relationships through clarity, rigour and strategic perspective. Lead conversations on effectiveness, value and accountability, translating multiple project outputs into clear strategic implications.
  • Bring authority and perspective to senior client conversations, providing industry & marketplace insight (via a thought leadership programme), guiding informed decisions and opening new opportunities
  • Analyze and challenge client problems, turning ambiguous issues into actionable solutions, both within and outside of defined scopes
  • Create and shape core client deliverables, demonstrating originality and critical thinking in e.g. writing workshop materials, industry POVs, pitch briefs, diagnostic assessments, client‐ready recommendations
  • Work hands‐on with cross‐functional team to design and deliver high quality outputs (lead and drive the team, not just coordinate them) that have intellectual, analytical, and professional rigor and real‐world application
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of insightful and relevant reports to senior client contacts
  • Ensure project plans are in place, status calls (internal / external) are scheduled, team members are properly briefed, and meetings are documented and actioned
  • Anticipate, raise and resolve issues with key client/agency contacts on our work (e.g. timeline/deliverables) or client/agency relationships, documenting and actioning conclusions
  • Lead operational aspects of client relationships (e.g. proposals, fees, contracts, NDAs, invoicing schedules)
  • Support and train junior team members across our business, helping them gain understanding of our processes and build confidence interacting with agencies and clients. Coach and develop teams by elevating how they think, strengthening judgement, problem framing and strategic rigour across the business.
  • Promote other services to clients/targets, and participate in new business pitches, playing a key role in preparation and presentation of proposals that are specific to the client's needs
  • Actively contribute to the continuous updating of our library of services and credentials, and general knowledge sharing across the business

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 10-12+ years of experience in international marketing, agency, consulting roles with strong knowledge across media.
  • Strong communications/ media strategy & planning experience and skills preferred.
  • Ability to operate comfortably at the intersection of strategy, advisory leadership and commercial growth.
  • Experience in agency pitches and/or audit programmes (from marketer or agency or consulting perspectives)
  • Ability to apply a deep understanding of how marketing organisations function, including internal structures, agency relationships, governance models and stakeholder dynamics
  • Understanding of new and emerging channels (e.g. AI‐driven search, agentic buying models) and the roles they can play within communications alongside established media channels; understanding of agency operating systems and the pros and cons of applying these tools & technologies to media campaigns.
  • Self‐starter: motivated to join a growing company and prepared to actively participate in driving that growth; thrives under pressure
  • Strategic: natural curiosity for client challenges; able to guide clients and agencies to conclusions and make recommendations with conviction. Able to identify opportunities to extend and deepen client relationships through insight and advisory value.
  • Relationship management: able to build and lead client relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple functions; adept at dealing with ambiguity and finding a way to navigate through
  • Stakeholder management: able to manage people (up and down, internal and external), comfortable working with senior leaders and strong personalities
  • Communication (oral and written): able to simplify the complex and inspire action; confident presenter in both group and one‐to‐one sessions
  • Negotiation skills: thoughtful and measured approach to negotiation, able to balance multiple variables in arriving at desired outcomes
  • Leadership: can motivate and lead internal teams to collaborate on shared client challenges
  • Intellectual curiosity: inquisitive by nature, approaching all tasks with curiosity and enthusiasm
