Position Overview

We're looking for a Director of Client Experiences to lead how audiences watch content on their favorite devices. MK.IO Platform provides modern video streaming services, with live and on-demand encoding, packaging, DRM and delivery, catalog and discovery, entitlements and rights, monetization, player SDKs and analytics. Our customers are the streaming businesses who put those experiences in front of viewers. You'll think like their viewers and build what our customers need to serve them.

This is a hands-on product leadership role. You'll turn our platform strategy into a client experience roadmap, and work with the Director of Platform Tools, your counterpart on the product team, to make sure the backend services exist for what our customers want to build. Your job is to make our customers' applications faster to build, better to use, and ahead of what the market expects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver the client experience roadmap across mobile, living room, web, and emerging screens
  • Work with the Director of Platform Tools so the services and APIs behind great client applications get built
  • Push live forward: low-latency playback, start-over and catch-up, real-time messaging, and features like multiview
  • Define entitlements that decide who can watch what: subscription tiers, pay-per-view, blackouts, and device limits
  • Develop discovery and personalization across catalog, search, feeds and recommendations
  • Grow monetization on the client: ad-supported and FAST experiences, ad insertion, and subscription
  • Lead the client SDK portfolio across iOS/tvOS, Android and Android TV, Roku and web
  • Build out the MediaKind demo application that shows the art of the possible on our platform
  • Advise the world's largest streaming services on building modern applications, and bring what you learn back
  • Use engagement and quality-of-experience analytics to decide what to build next, and show it worked
  • Mentor and grow the client experiences product team

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Solid experience (typically 8+ years) in streaming or OTT product management
  • Hands-on experience building or running consumer streaming applications, and accountability for how they performed
  • Fluency across the device ecosystem: iOS and Android, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, streaming sticks and consoles
  • Practical experience with entitlements, rights, or monetization in streaming
  • Working understanding of adaptive bitrate streaming, HLS and DASH, DRM, low-latency live delivery, and player SDKs
  • Genuine interest in what other streaming services are shipping, because you already watch this closely
  • Communication skills to hold a technical conversation with an engineering lead and a business one with a CPO
  • Experience mentoring product people, and a willingness to stay hands-on in a small team
  • Legal right to work in the UK, USA, or Canada. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role

Preferred

  • Live sports at scale, where the biggest matches bring the whole audience at once
  • Experience with ad-supported or FAST services and the ad technology behind them
  • Delivering products to Tier-1 broadcasters, operators, or global streaming services
  • Background in B2B platform products, where your users are other product and engineering teams
  • Familiarity with set-top environments and how those operators are moving to IP
  • Exposure to emerging devices such as Apple Vision Pro

Location UK, USA, or Canada. Remote, with travel for customer engagements and industry events.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and bonus structure
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • MediaKindness Wellbeing Program and Family Friendly Policies
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment
  • Flexible work arrangements, including remote work options

How to prepare for a job interview at MediaKind

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If MediaKind uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
