As an Apprentice Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of cutting-edge streaming technologies, contributing to our flagship video processing and delivery solutions used by leading global customers like NBA, DAZN, Premier League, and Comcast. You’ll learn much of what it takes to be a first-class software developer, coached and guided by experts with opportunities to broaden your knowledge and experience on challenging projects.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain backend services, microservices, and video-processing components.
- Contribute to cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, and multi-cloud environments.
- Work with senior engineers to build scalable, reliable services used by global customers.
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams across Southampton and Rennes.
- Learn how video encoding, packaging, CDN workflows, and control plane systems fit together in real-world streaming environments.
- Participate in an on-call rota to support our DevOps team as you grow in confidence and capability.
Starting September 2026, you will be enrolled in the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship at Solent University, following a software engineer pathway.
Who You Are:
- Working towards or have achieved A-Level or equivalent in STEM subjects, including Maths and Computer Science.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, Python, Bash, and Golang.
- Strong sense of curiosity and interest in understanding complex systems.
- Eager to learn, experiment, iterate, and contribute to technical projects.
- Collaborative, positive, and comfortable working in dynamic, fast-moving teams with excellent communication skills.
- Enjoy problem solving and motivated by building impactful products.
- Prepared to meet the challenge of holding a full-time role alongside academic commitments.
- Strong workplace etiquette, being present, dependable, and respectful of business expectations.

Location: Southampton City Centre – office based (option to move to hybrid after 12 months). You will need to ensure you live within a commutable distance to the office.
