The Role

This role is for a Senior Consultant, EMEA Creative Team (12 months FTC - maternity cover), based in London. This role will report into the VP, Client Strategy. This role is part-time, requiring 3 days per week, with flexibility on how these days are structured.

We're looking for someone who has in-depth knowledge of the commercial models creative agencies have with clients and with experience of analysing them to optimise and find efficiencies. Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the role combines strategic consulting, commercial analysis and project leadership to help organisations design, optimise and govern high-performing agency relationships.

The role itself will involve a range of activities including:

  • Lead and deliver complex consulting engagements across agency ecosystems, operating models, commercial structures and marketing transformation programmes.
  • Lead client workstreams, develop evidence-based recommendations and manage project delivery teams, while bringing expertise in how agencies are structured, remunerated and operationally managed.
  • Own and lead consulting projects and workstreams, acting as a primary day-to-day client contact.
  • Develop project approaches, workplans and strategic recommendations that address client business challenges.
  • Lead project teams to deliver high-quality outputs on time and to budget.
  • Guide clients through complex agency, operating model and organisational change programmes.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews and senior leadership discussions.
  • Translate data, insights and market intelligence into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot project challenges and proactively identify risks and mitigation plans.

Commercial and Agency Advisory

  • Lead assessments of agency commercial models, scopes of work, fee structures and remuneration approaches.
  • Analyse agency resource plans, staffing structures and utilisation models to identify efficiencies and optimisation opportunities.
  • Evaluate agency contracts, commercial terms, governance frameworks and performance mechanisms.
  • Support agency reviews, pitches and selection processes through commercial evaluation and benchmarking.
  • Develop recommendations for fee models, incentive structures, bonus/malus frameworks and value-based remuneration approaches.
  • Assess the effectiveness of agency governance processes, decision rights, escalation routes and performance management frameworks.
  • Conduct financial and commercial analysis to support client decision-making across agency ecosystems.

Strategic Consulting

  • Design future-state agency and operating models aligned to client objectives.
  • Develop governance structures, KPI frameworks and performance management approaches.
  • Support clients through implementation and transition programmes.
  • Define operating models that leverage organisational strengths and mitigate risks and capability gaps.
  • Create compelling client presentations, reports and recommendations supported by robust analysis.

Internal Capability Development

  • Contribute to the development of mediasense methodologies, tools and thought leadership.
  • Provide commercial expertise to colleagues across creative consulting projects.
  • Mentor and support junior consultants and project team members.
  • Support business development activities, proposals and client pitches where required.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Deep understanding of how advertising, media, production and marketing agencies operate commercially and operationally.
  • Experience working within a creative agency commercial, operations, finance, procurement or client leadership function, or consulting on agency commercial models.
  • Strong knowledge of creative agency remuneration structures, including retained, project-based, output-based and performance-linked models.
  • Understanding of creative agency scopes of work, staffing models, resource planning and profitability drivers.
  • Experience evaluating contracts, commercial frameworks and client-agency governance structures, specifically around creative functions.
  • Ability to analyse complex commercial and operational data and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of the agency landscape and evolving marketing ecosystem.
  • Experience designing operating models, governance frameworks or organisational structures.
  • Ability to define strategic priorities and develop practical implementation plans.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior client leaders.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Highly analytical with strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Experience developing KPI frameworks and performance measurement approaches.
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and data analysis capabilities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in agency procurement, agency operations, agency finance, marketing procurement or management consulting.
  • Exposure to agency reviews, agency selection processes or commercial negotiations.
  • Understanding of creative, production and content supply chain operating models.
  • Experience with marketing transformation, in-housing or hybrid operating models.
  • Knowledge of performance-based remuneration and value measurement methodologies.
