Business Development Manager – Publisher

Up to £40,000 + Uncapped OTE (70-80k Year 1)

London (2 days per week) rest home

My client is a specialist online bioscience publisher based in London, focusing on the cutting edge of biomedical R&D, including cell and gene therapy, immuno-oncology and vaccines, and are passionate about delivering high value content in innovative digital formats. Their clients are global technology companies across the US & Europe, a new role has been created for a BDM.

The role … seeking a Business Development Manager with 3-4 years’ experience to join the team full-time. Given the dynamic, fast-paced nature of the business, the role offers almost limitless opportunities for progression. It’s a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week spent with the team in central London (London Bridge), and the rest at home.

The role will initially include:

  • Continual market monitoring to stay abreast of industry trends and generating of new leads
  • 360-degree sales cycle management – own deals from prospecting through to close and manage the ongoing relationship with the client
  • Contributing to the strategy for driving in-bound leads, including via eblasts, social media and website promotion
  • Sole responsibility for resell/upsell to some of our current clients, ensuring all customer needs are met on their specific timescales and to the high standards they expect from us.
  • Keeping up to date records of activity, market feedback and pipeline in our CRM to contribute to product development strategy, accurate forecasting and understanding of market coverage.
  • Working in close collaboration with our customer success, editorial and marketing teams to devise, implement and track effective campaigns for our clients

We are looking for someone who:

Has 3-4 years working in a B2B environment in a sales role, ideally within a publishing/media sales or exhibition/conference environment. Experience or knowledge of the pharma/biotech sector is a plus but is not essential.

Has experience with consultative sales of service-led offerings, including development of complex multi-product bespoke proposals

Has a strong track record of achieving sales targets, including both new business and account growth

Can demonstrate experience in learning about a new sector or technology area to build trust and legitimacy with prospects to enable effective, in-depth consultative conversations.

Has experience of working in a collaborative way to deliver successful results for clients
