This newsroom has one of the best reputations in the market for transforming reporters into high-performing scoopers, capable of consistently beating the biggest names in the industry. They’re looking for a newshound reporter to join a growing team of journalists dedicated to breaking stories on mergers and acquisitions and debt financing. You’ll have the opportunity and scope to develop deep relationships with significant industry figures to get news on deals that will have a significant impact on market movement and investor activity. Having partnered with this business for many years, they have an excellent reputation for supporting career development, with all editors there having started as reporters. We are looking for a reporter with a burning ambition to break news and a demonstrable interest in M&A. An appreciation or experience covering APAC would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop an excellent book of contacts to break exclusive stories on M&A deals across APAC
- Taking the lead on major stories and helping your editor to nurture and develop reporters
- Travelling to international business events to further your network and understanding of the industry
Requirements
- Some professional experience as a financial journalist
- A demonstrable enthusiasm for breaking exclusives
- A good knowledge of M&A and global capital markets
- Ability to adjust to early hours (7am – 3:30pm) to speak with contacts in APAC when necessary
