About the role
As the Falls Prevention Exercise Instructor / Technical Instructor for Medequip Assistive Technology Ltd you will support the delivery of a high-quality falls prevention service to older adults who have fallen or are at risk of falls, through exercise programmes, screening support and provision of low-level equipment to help people remain safe, independent and confident. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Delivering pre-set postural stability instruction classes, chair-based programmes and home exercise programmes
- Supporting screening assessments and interventions as directed by Falls Practitioners, in line with service specification and protocols
- Assisting with the analysis of screening outcomes and allocating clients to the most appropriate exercise programme, with deferral or signposting where needed
- Monitoring clients before, during and after intervention, evaluating progress and adjusting interventions accordingly
- Undertaking blood pressure monitoring where required
- Independently delivering and progressing exercise programmes within agreed guidelines
- Managing and prioritising your own caseload in line with service needs
- Escalating complex cases or concerns to the relevant team member and contributing possible solutions where appropriate
- Monitoring waiting lists and working with the Team Lead and Administration team to meet KPI waiting time requirements
- Instructing clients in the safe use of mobility aids, community equipment and transfer techniques
- Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, clients, carers and partner agencies
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date written and electronic documentation in line with legal, contractual and service requirements
- Recording patient feedback and escalating concerns, complaints or incidents in line with service protocols
- Working in accordance with Caldicott and GDPR guidance on confidentiality and data management
- Participating in supervision, mandatory training and ongoing professional development

Qualifications and experience required:
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own car for business use
- IT literate and able to use Word and Excel programmes
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage your own caseload
- Ability to lone work and work without direct supervision
- Knowledge of strength and balance exercises for older people (Desirable)
- Level 2/3 Gym Instructor Diploma or equivalent (Desirable)
- Practical experience in a therapy related role, exercise instruction or postural stability instruction, or activity-based work with older people (Desirable)
- Willingness to complete Postural Stability Instruction training
- Willingness to undertake Trusted Assessor Level 2 training for low-level equipment and walking aids
