About Medefer
Medefer is a pioneer in virtual-first specialist healthcare. Founded by NHS consultants over a decade ago, we were delivering consultant-led virtual outpatient care well before virtual hospitals became a national priority. Our model has since been cited in government and NHS England material on the NHS Online vision as one of the service models informing this direction. We sit at the intersection of clinical provider and technology company. Our CQC-registered service is powered by Medefer's own electronic health record and referral platform, connecting GPs, consultants, diagnostic providers and hospitals into a single coordinated system. This approach has won multiple national awards for elective recovery, innovation and impact, and we now serve both NHS partners and private patients across the UK. Medefer is built on three principles: innovate to solve real system problems, collaborate with clinicians and partners, and put patients first in every decision. As we scale across Integrated Care Systems and grow our private services, joining now means helping to define what modern specialist care looks like - and owning the financial strategy behind it.
About the role:
The role of a Medefer Registrar is to consult with patients remotely, obtaining more detailed information about their condition, following their GP referral to Medefer. This is then reviewed by our Consultants to support their clinical decision-making. You may work as many hours as you choose each week, with no maximum limit. You have the flexibility to select the days and times you wish to work, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends (providing patient cases are available). This is a fully remote role, and due to the nature of the role you must have a private and secure space from which to work with reliable internet access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clerking patients within your speciality via telephone assessment following a GP referral made to our Virtual Hospital.
- Take a detailed patient history during clerking calls to support the Consultant to form a management plan for the patient.
- Discuss risks and benefits of a surgical procedure or invasive test which has been recommended as a possibility by a Consultant, documenting the patients agreement in principle (please note all patients will be formally consented as per normal at a later stage).
About You
You will be:
- A Registrar with a minimum of 12 months' experience working in the NHS in Cardiology.
- Registered with the GMC with an active licence to practice.
- Have an interest in digital health, clinical informatics and in new ways of working.
- Have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Possess excellent time management, planning, and prioritising skills.
- Be detail oriented, able to process detailed information effectively, consistently, and accurately.
