Role Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Locum SHO in Orthopaedics & Surgery to join an NHS Trust on an immediate-start basis. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic surgical team, providing high-quality patient care across orthopaedic and general surgical services.
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Previous NHS experience in Orthopaedics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, or related surgical specialties
Valid Right to Work in the UK
Ability to start ASAP
Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
Experience managing acute surgical patients and ward-based care
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and management of orthopaedic and surgical inpatients
Participation in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
Reviewing new admissions and emergency referrals
Pre-operative and post-operative patient management
Assisting senior clinicians with patient care and treatment plans
Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
Liaising with nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals, and specialty teams
Skills Required:
Acute patient assessment
Surgical ward management
Trauma assessment and management
Communication and teamwork
Time management and prioritisation
Basic procedural skills relevant to SHO level
Experience with fracture clinics
Experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics rotations within the NHS
Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends

Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (mandatory)
