The post is for a Locum Senior House Officer (SHO) working within an NHS Trust on an agency locum basis. The doctor will provide high-quality clinical care, support the multidisciplinary team, and ensure safe patient management across allocated wards and clinical areas. The role requires a clinician who can start as soon as possible and who holds valid Right to Work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients under consultant supervision.
- Participate in ward rounds, clerking of new admissions, and ongoing patient reviews.
- Support acute care areas including assessment units, emergency take, and on-call duties (where applicable).
- Request and interpret investigations in line with Trust protocols.
- Prepare discharge summaries, documentation, and handovers to ensure continuity of care.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff, AHPs, and senior medical teams.
- Escalate concerns promptly and contribute to safe clinical decision-making.
- Participate in rota commitments including evenings, nights, and weekends (if required).
Requirements
- Valid Right to Work in the UK (passport, visa, BRP, or settlement status).
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
- Up-to-date mandatory training and immunisation records.
- Recent NHS experience at SHO/FY2+ level.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work independently with senior support available.
