About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Chef to join the kitchen team at a care home in Yorkshire. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetising and well-presented meals that meet the individual dietary and nutritional needs of residents.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) and hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality meals for residents in accordance with menus and dietary requirements.
- Prepare meals suitable for different dietary needs, including texture-modified diets in line with IDDSI guidelines.
- Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure meals are prepared, cooked and stored to the required standards.
- Cater for allergies, intolerances and specific nutritional requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Work closely with care staff and management to ensure residents' dietary needs are met.
- Monitor stock levels and minimise food waste.
- Complete relevant kitchen and food safety records.
- Provide a friendly, professional service and maintain high standards of care-home catering.
Requirements
- Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification – essential.
- IDDSI knowledge/experience – essential.
- Valid Enhanced DBS
- Previous professional Chef experience.
- Experience working in a care home, nursing home or healthcare setting is desirable.
- Good knowledge of food safety and allergen requirements.
- Ability to follow menus, recipes and dietary instructions accurately.
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- A caring and professional approach to working with elderly and vulnerable residents.
