Responsibilities
- Actively participate in MedAcuity’s business development lifecycle; identify opportunities, generate proposals and white papers, and support other sales efforts.
- Engage with clients to solve complex business and technology challenges including product and technology road mapping, architectural assessments and formulation, product migration planning and strategy development, and process assessment and realization.
- Apply systems‑level thinking to provide customized solutions to meet customer needs.
- Enable continuity between consulting and development engagements and periodic oversight of development team activities.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to inter‑disciplinary software teams.
- On occasion, fill the role of technical lead or hands‑on contributor on software and system development projects.
- This role frequently initiates and closes all engagements; as such up to 35% travel can be expected.
Qualifications
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of deep and broad experience with complex systems development, with a significant software component.
- Direct experience with software architecture formulation and full life‑cycle product development within Medical Device, Robotics, or Aerospace / Defense industries.
- Detailed experience applicable regulatory standards and guidance including ISO 13485, ISO 62304, ISO 14971, and SW90 / 81001‑5‑1.
- Professional and refined communication and consultation skills with a history of building consensus and developing relationships with Engineering and Business Leaders including expertise in facilitation, brainstorming, problem solving, documentation, and presentations.
- Current and relevant experience with complex embedded software and system development, cloud, enterprise, and platform experience a plus; strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the ability to effectively alternate between detail and conceptual levels.
- Solid understanding of safety and security principles as they apply to medical device software.
- Hands‑on experience in software and systems development and implementation.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of the time, primarily local to the greater Boston and New England region to visit client sites or attend industry conferences.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Strategic Consulting, Software Development, Quality Assurance / Compliance projects and initiatives in regulated as well as non‑regulated environments.
- Expertise in the medical device space with an understanding of standard development practices including ISO 13485 and ISO 14971.
- Recent experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment.
- Significant professional background serving in a customer‑facing capacity.
- Constant learner, appetite to learn new concepts and technologies.
Education
- Minimum of BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Scientific / Engineering discipline, preferably an advanced degree in the aforementioned disciplines.
A realistic estimate of starting base salary for this full‑time position is $180,000 to $205,000. The actual salary offered may vary based on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity and other business considerations. This position qualifies for a discretionary performance based bonus based on personal and company factors. We also offer a comprehensive benefit program including medical, dental and vision insurance, a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k) with company match, company paid life and disability insurance, additional voluntary life insurance, employee assistance programs and recognition awards.
