Locum Consultant Gastroenterology - UK-Wide Opportunities | Medacs Healthcare

Location: West London, UK

Rate: £95-£115 per hour. Inside IR35 only

Contract Type: Locum (short-term and long-term assignments available)

Start Date: ASAP for 3 months initially, but extendable

Details: Full time Monday-Friday. The duties include ward rounds, vetting referrals, participating in MDT, clinical admin, covering gastroenterology outpatient clinics (F2F and virtual) on rolling rota in parallel to other consultants and covering endoscopy lists. This role also includes 1 week non-resident out of hours GI Bleed cover starting from 8 am on Monday till 8 am on following Monday, providing GI cover on a rolling rota.

About the Role

As a locum Consultant in Gastroenterology, you'll play a key role in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal conditions, working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care. Responsibilities may include:

  • Performing endoscopic procedures (OGD, colonoscopy)
  • Managing inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services
  • Supporting junior doctors and MDTs
  • Contributing to service development and audits

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Relevant NHS experience at Consultant level, or references to support your transition up to Consultant level
  • Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for agency locum work)
  • A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check - or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
